UTAH AND AIR FORCE WIN SUNSHINE SLAM TITLES

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Utah and Air Force traveled the farthest to get to Daytona Beach but the trips proved worthwhile as they won their respective brackets in the Sunshine Slam held at the Ocean Center.Utah took home the crown by earning a 72-58 win over Tulsa. Tournament MVP Braden Carlson posted 15 points and 13 rebounds in leading the Utes. He was joined on the all-tournament team by David Jenkins Jr. who ended the game with 13 points. Rollie Worster added 12.

Tulsa was led by San Griffin, who had 18 points and was selected to the all-tournament team. Jeriah Horne netted 10 points

In the consolation game, Rhode Island downed Boston College 71-65, its second win over the Eagles in four days.

All-tournament selection Jeremy Sheppard led URI with 15 points and five assists. Antwan Walker also had 15 points.

Boston College received 19 points from tournament team member Jaeden Zachery.

As for Air Force, the Falcons won their trophy with a 73-65 win over Bethune-Cookman. Tournament MVP AJ Walker led all scorers with 22 points, giving him 49 over the two-day event. Joseph Octane earned a spot on the all-tournament team with his 14-point effort. Jake Heidbreder and Ethan Taylor added 13 points each.In the consolation game, Bryant led by as many as many as 32 points before emerging with a 78-62 win over Holy Cross. Bryant’s Peter Kiss led all scorers with 35 points to garner a spot on the all-tournament team. Kyrell Luc had 18 for Holy Cross to be placed on the all-tournament team.
