DAYTONA BEACH, Fla -- Stony Brook earned a hard-fought 61–54 victory over Bethune-Cookman in the 2025 Sunshine Slam Consolation Game at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. The Seawolves struggled early, falling behind 30–19 at halftime, but responded with a dominant second half in which they outscored the Wildcats 42–24 to flip the game in their favor.
Erik Pratt led Stony Brook with 14 points, sparking the comeback effort and steadying the offense when the team needed it most. Bethune-Cookman was carried by Quentin Heady’s 22 points, but the Wildcats couldn’t maintain their first-half momentum as Stony Brook tightened its defense and limited clean looks down the stretch.
Despite being narrowly outrebounded 45–41, Stony Brook’s stronger execution in the final minutes proved decisive. The Seawolves’ defensive intensity, improved shot selection, and ability to close possessions allowed them to secure the win and finish the event on a positive note.
